Your braces options at Peak Orthodontics

At Peak Orthodontics, we offer various options for straightening your teeth with braces. When it comes to braces, our experienced and knowledgeable orthodontist, Dr. John Perry, specialises in providing personalised solutions to meet your unique needs.

What are braces made from?

Braces employ the use of brackets, wires, and bands to exert gentle forces on your teeth to gradually move them into position. The braces brackets can be fashioned from a variety of materials, including metal, ceramic, and clear plastic. Typically, the wires that are inserted into the brackets are composed of either stainless steel or nickel titanium.  You can find out more about how brace wires work in our previous blog.

What types of braces does Peak Orthodontics offer?

At Peak Orthodontics, we offer a range of braces options tailored to your individual needs and preferences. Here are some of the most common types of braces we offer:

  1. Metal Braces: These are the most conventional braces, consisting of metal brackets and wires. They are durable and effective.
  2. Ceramic Braces: These braces are similar to metal braces but are constructed from tooth-colored materials, rendering them less noticeable. They are frequently preferred by patients who are seeking a discreet orthodontic treatment option.
  3. Coloured Braces: At our practice, we offer a wide variety of coloured bands that can be added to either your ceramic or metal braces appliance. From bold and vibrant hues to subtle and understated tones, our range of colours will allow you to express your individuality and make a statement with your smile. Whether you’re looking to match your favourite sports team’s colours, show off your school pride, or simply add a pop of colour to your braces look our team can help you find the perfect shade.

How often will I need to visit Peak Orthodontics during my braces treatment?

We are pleased to offer the latest in braces technology to ensure our patients experience a convenient experience with a high level of care. At Peak Orthodontics, you will visit our practice approximately every 6 to 10 weeks for a braces check up. To ensure an added level of care, Dr Perry and his team will also monitor your orthodontic progress with our Dental Monitoring technology. The Dental Monitoring system uses a small device attached to your smart phone which takes high-resolution images of your teeth on a weekly basis. These images are sent to our orthodontist for analysis through a secure online portal. The system employs advanced algorithms that detect even subtle changes in tooth position and alignment, which enables Dr Perry to make adjustments to the treatment plan as needed. It also enables us to communicate with you conveniently and effectively.

Following your orthodontist’s instructions when you are wearing braces

To achieve the best outcome with braces, it is critical to adhere to the instructions of Dr. Perry and maintain excellent oral hygiene throughout the course of your treatment. This entails brushing and flossing regularly and avoiding hard or sticky foods that may damage your braces. If you are instructed to wear braces elastics during treatment, please do so as prescribed to ensure that your braces treatment has the best possible chance of finishing on time.

If you are interested in orthodontic treatment, including braces, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are eager to assist you in realising the smile of your dreams. You can book your consultation online or by calling our practice on 03 595 6686.
